Who is NEWEN® ? 

Since 1935 an entire family has

dedicated itself exclusively to engine repair trades.

From 1976 to 1991, Pierre Harmand designs, manufactures and markets the entire range of machines at Serdi, which he created and ran: a technology acknowledged and used throughout the world by engine manufacturers and engine repair professionals.

In 1992 his two children create NEWEN in California, USA, with the same philosophy.  A new range of universal tools and machines for the repair of cylinder heads is offered to professionals desirous of producing top quality at an affordable price.

NEWEN it is 80 years of KNOW-HOW and an entire team of people at the service of the profession.  The evolution continues...

With valve seat machining experience spreading over three generations, NEWEN possesses unique knowledge in that particular field.  In fact, valve seat machining has always been NEWEN's only focus, it's know-how is unequaled by any other company in the industry.   For the past 35 years, an entire team of engineers and cylinder head specialists has been dedicating its time and substantial resources to the development of a new machining method that would push back the limits of traditional plunging and eliminate all the problems inherent to form tools.

What is FIXED-TURNING®?

FIXED-TURNING® is the machining of valve seats and/or any revolution shape by interpolation of axes.  FIXED-TURNING® is a unique and amazingly simple kinematics.  It is a pinion free and play free mechanism, entirely pre-loaded, with the ability to machine the most complex shapes, including straight lines, radii, concave or convex, in both directions, while guaranteeing extra ordinary geometric qualities.

Why FIXED-TURNING®?

New engines, much tighter tolerances, new valve seat materials, new regulations, tighter pollution controls, the ever growing need for optimum combustion and power, much needed fuel economies, without forgetting skyrocketing labor costs, are all significant contributing factors to the development of a new radical solution and the reasons why old fashion ways to work on cylinder heads had to be revolutionized.

Over the past two decades, OEM specifications have evolved tremendously, tolerances have tighten exponentially and professional engine builders and rebuilders, ill tooled and out of synch with OEM's technologies, have begun to lose market shares, unable to meet the new technicial requirements set by large engine manufacturers around the world.

Engine re-conditioners provide a service to their own customers.  This service is justified only in so far as it meets the technical requirements of the end user and justifies the investment in the repair.  Today engine reconditioners must regain market share.  FIXED-TURNING® is the tool to help them do it.
